Advanced Placement

Utah State Board of Education
Advanced Placement Information

Advanced Placement (AP) is a program in the United States and Canada created by College Board that offers college-level curricula and examinations to high school students.  AP courses are invariably more rigorous than other high school offerings.  American colleges and universities may grant placement and course credit to students who obtain high scores on the AP examinations.  According to the Utah State Board of Education, a recent United States Department of Education study shows that participation in AP and other challenging high school courses is one of the strongest predictors of college success.

Career and Technical Education

Career and Technical Education

Career and Technical Education provides pathways for students to achieve success through secondary schools and post-education. Through pathways and structured training, students will learn the skills to be successful in the career or education path of their choice!  Students are given opportunities to participate in student-led organizations (CTSO)  that help teach them leadership skills and achieve success on a state and national level. There are coordinators at different High Schools that you can contact with school-specific questions and comments. CTE offers classes in different programs.

Concurrent Enrollment

Concurrent Enrollment

Through partnerships with Utah Higher Education Institutions, Tooele County School District can offer concurrent enrollment classes.  These classes are actual college courses that students take and earn a college grade.  These grades are recorded on both high school and college transcripts.  Our general education classes are offered through Utah State University.  We offer other classes through Salt Lake Community College, Weber State University, and Snow College.  Classes are offered face-to-face by TCSD staff, as well as broadcasted by university and college faculty.
