The first day for students at the new Sterling Elementary School building will be Jan. 2, 2018. That evening there will be an open house starting at 6 p.m. The open house and ribbon cutting is open to the public. Students who attend Sterling Elementary will begin Winter Break Dec. 20th, 2017. This is one day earlier than the rest of the school district. This provides teachers and staff an extra day to unpack in the new school.
In Tooele County School District, our community expects timely communications, especially during safety concerns, like inclement weather. Because each weather-related call is based on current and forecasted conditions, we often publish a final decision early in the morning, rather than the night before. With winter conditions uncertain and further observations necessary, our crews start evaluating road conditions at midnight. Decisions to close the district are often made by 5:30 a.m.
