Chalk Talk - Welcome Back To School!

The school bell rings, its chimes sublime. It calls to learn, to teach, to reach, to climb. Many school bells rang today as students and teachers returned to classes seeking to blaze new trails of opportunity and learning. As the Executive Director of the Tooele Education Foundation, it is my pleasure to welcome everyone back to school for another fun and exciting year!

Welcome New Directors and Administrators to TCSD!

When it comes to leadership roles this school year, Tooele County School District will welcome five new employees to the district, while strategically moving 12 current employees to new roles.

“Leadership matters! The hallmark of a great school begins with great teachers supported by great leaders,” said Dr. Scott Rogers, TCSD superintendent. “Kids need both to grow and achieve. We are very strategic about moving people where they will succeed and we are thankful for all these wonderful educators who are part of our TCSD family.”

Five schools eligible for free breakfast/lunch

Tooele County School District is pleased to announce Anna Smith Elementary, Copper Canyon Elementary, Ibapah Elementary, Northlake Elementary and Wendover High have been approved to participate in Community Eligibility Provision (CEP).

Chalk Talk - “Tools For Schools” Success

There are countless families in Tooele County who wonder how they will be able to get the needed school supplies for their children to start school. Because of the success of the Tools For Schools drive, Tooele Education Foundation will have many supplies for students who are unable to get them!

Free At-Home Kindergarten Readiness Program

The State of Utah has partnered with Waterford Institute to provide families with an in-home learning opportunity for pre-school aged students.

To be eligible for participation this year, families must have a child born between 09/02/2013 and 09/01/2014 and they must plan on enrolling their child in kindergarten in the fall of 2019 (next school year). This program is used at home as an additional tool to promote school-readiness.

UPSTART provides preschoolers with an individualized reading, math, and science curriculum, with a focus on reading instruction. UPSTART families commit to using the software program a minimum of 15 to 20 minutes a day, 5 days a week.

Highlights of the program include: individualized, engaging curriculum, bilingual User Support Team, free computer and internet access for qualifying homes.
