WiFi-equipped school buses help students get online

Tooele County School District installed Wi-Fi routers on six activity buses used for athletics, arts and clubs. The Wi-Fi was added to provide students the option of working on school work while traveling long distances to and from extracurricular activities. The routers will allow students to connect to district-approved websites from their laptop, cell phone or tablet. Each Wi-Fi router is password protected with a total of five gigabytes allotted per month.

Pre-Employment Transition Services

To help increase transition-related services within school districts, the Utah State Board of Education and Utah State Office of Rehabilitation have been working together to help offer Pre-Employment Transition Service providers to students 14 to 22 years old. School counselors and teachers can refer students to a Pre-ETS provider.

Leadership Matters - Volunteers Are Essential

In the Merriam-Webster dictionary, volunteer is defined both as a noun and a verb. As a noun, a volunteer is “a person who voluntarily undertakes or expresses a willingness to undertake a service.” As a verb, volunteer can be, “to offer or bestow voluntarily.” As we celebrate National Volunteer Week from April 7-13, I’d like to offer my thanks to the many wonderful people who volunteer in our local schools throughout the year.

You Have a Voice in Policy Making

One of the responsibilities of the Tooele County School District Board of Education is to review and vote on policies proposed for district-wide implementation. Policies cover a range of topics from safety and accountability measures to community relations. Policies are designed to meet the educational and safety needs of students, as well as, outline the expectations of staff members.
