Generous community members and businesses provide students with clothing, shoes, hygiene products, eye exams, and haircuts. This ensures that the students in our community have their back-to-school needs met.
“There are many families in need of assistance and we want to help them and let them know there is support,” said TCSD Homeless Liaison, Christy Johnson. “It’s not just with clothing and school supplies, but also introduce families to the resources available, such as insurance, Medicaid, and legal services.”
Johnson stated the Back-To-School Closet allows students to have the same opportunities as their peers. There are thousands of items available that can help prepare students for the beginning of school.
“At some point in time everyone experiences hardships," said Johnson. “If people are experiencing a hardship, we want to help.”
